Short version of this CJ Dropshipping review: CJ is a legitimate, long-running China-based supplier and fulfillment agent. It's free to join, there's no required monthly fee, and you pay for products, shipping and any warehouse or branding services you use. It's strongest for sourcing requests, custom packaging and stocking inventory in overseas warehouses. It's weakest where orders still ship from China and where add-on fees quietly stack up.
Everything below is checked against CJ's own pages (pricing, fee schedule, company profile) and its Shopify App Store listing as of 20 October 2026. Where CJ's pages contradict each other, we say so.
CJ Dropshipping overview
Before the verdict parts of this CJ Dropshipping review, the basics. CJdropshipping.com is run by Yiwu Cu Jia Trade Co., Ltd. CJ's company profile says it was set up in 2015 in Yiwu, Zhejiang, a city known for its huge wholesale commodity market. The business works as a middleman: you list CJ's products in your store, orders flow to CJ, CJ buys or picks the item, packs it and ships it to your customer under your brand.
What you can actually use CJ for:
- Product catalogue and sourcing requests. Browse CJ's listings, or post a sourcing request for an item it doesn't carry. The free plan includes 5 sourcing requests a day.
- Order fulfillment. Orders sync from your store, you pay CJ, and CJ ships.
- Overseas warehouses. CJ's fee page names warehouses in China, the US, Poland, Germany and the UK, and its 3PL page says "10+ warehouses across North America, Europe, and more."
- 3PL fulfillment. You can send stock from your own factory to CJ and have CJ store and ship it.
- Branding. Custom packaging, logo inserts, print on demand, plus product photo and video shooting.
- Integrations. Shopify, eBay, WooCommerce, Etsy, TikTok Shop, Wix and others, plus an API.
Is CJ Dropshipping legit?
Yes. CJ Dropshipping is a real company that has operated since 2015, publishes a detailed fee schedule, and has run a public Shopify app since 6 January 2020. On the CJdropshipping Shopify app listing, the app holds a 4.9-star rating from 2,893 reviews (checked 20 October 2026). Shopify's breakdown shows 96% five-star and 67 one-star reviews, about 2%.

"Legit" and "right for you" are different questions, though. App store ratings lean positive for every app, partly because many reviews are left soon after install, when support is most attentive. The low-rated reviews on CJ's listing are worth reading because they're specific. The most recent ones (September 2026) raise these issues:
- Shipping from China felt slow to the merchant's customers.
- A product showed a US warehouse option at listing time, but the US warehouse didn't stock that exact variant.
- Experience depended heavily on the assigned agent, with some praising named agents and others complaining about slow replies and re-quoted prices.
None of that makes CJ a scam. It tells you what to test before you scale: order samples, confirm warehouse stock per variant, and get quotes in writing in your CJ account.
CJ Dropshipping pricing and fees
CJ is free to install and free to use. The Shopify listing puts it plainly: "Free to install, but product fees among other service fees will be charged accordingly." CJ also sells optional memberships on its CJ Plan page. Prices below are the discounted monthly prices shown on that page in US dollars on 20 October 2026, with the struck-through "regular" price in brackets.
| Plan | Monthly price | What you get on top of Free |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 5 daily sourcing requests, unlimited listing, unlimited employee accounts and stores, order monitoring, 24/7 support, quality inspection |
| Plus | $15.99 ($59) | Two $3-off-$10 coupons, 5 VIP products, 10 extra daily sourcing requests, 50% off CJ Academy courses under $10 |
| Prime | $19.99 ($299) | Five coupons, 10 VIP products, 15 recommended products, 20 extra daily sourcing requests, 50% off courses under $30 |
| Advanced | $59.99 ($599) | Ten coupons, 20 VIP products, 25 recommended products, 50 extra daily sourcing requests, 50% off courses under $100 |

Our take: most new sellers don't need a paid plan. The coupons are worth $6 to $30 a month and the extra sourcing requests only matter once you're testing a lot of products. Note CJ's FAQ on that page: memberships can't be refunded once bought.
The fees that actually move your margin
The membership is the small number. The real costs are on CJ's service fee page, and they depend on where the stock sits:
- Dropshipping from CN/US warehouses (products bought from CJ): shipping fee plus stocking fee.
- Dropshipping from European warehouses: shipping, inbound, outbound and stocking fees.
- 3PL fulfillment (your own stock sent to CJ): shipping, inbound, outbound and stocking fees.
To stock products in any overseas warehouse, CJ sets a minimum of 10 pieces per variant and 100 pieces in total. Outbound fees for a parcel up to 0.5 kg are $0.30 from China, $0.50 from the US, $1.01 from Poland, $0.34 from Germany and $0.33 from the UK, plus a small charge for each extra piece.

Storage is where CJ's pages disagree with themselves. The marketing copy says "90 Days Free Storage Fee in China and US Warehouses." The fee table on the same page shows China free for 90 days, but the US warehouse charging $0.63 per cubic metre per day from day 61. European warehouses start charging after 30 days. From 1 October to 31 December there's an extra peak-season charge (US: $0.21 per cubic metre per day). Plan around the table, not the headline.
A worked example. You stock 200 units of a small item, each 0.002 cubic metres (about a shoebox cut in half), in CJ's US warehouse. That's 0.4 cubic metres. If those units are still there on day 75 in November, the daily charge is 0.4 × ($0.63 + $0.21) = $0.34, or roughly $10 a month. Not ruinous, but slow sellers left until day 200 cost 0.4 × $1.89 = $0.76 a day before the peak surcharge. Check stock age monthly.
CJ Dropshipping Shopify app: how it works
The Shopify app is how most sellers use CJ. The listing calls it "CJdropshipping: Much Faster," and it supports 26 languages. Setup looks like this:
- Install the app from the Shopify App Store and create a CJ account.
- Authorize your Shopify store inside CJ so orders and tracking can sync.
- Find a product in CJ's catalogue and click List. Set your selling price and push it to Shopify.
- Already selling something CJ carries? Connect your existing Shopify product to the CJ product instead of re-listing it. Only connected products generate CJ orders.
- When an order comes in, it appears in CJ. Choose the shipping method, add it to the cart and pay.
- CJ dispatches the order and tracking syncs back to Shopify. You can also check it manually under Orders > Store Orders > dispatched, then the order number and Tracking Info, per CJ's help center.
Other useful features from the listing: a Shipping Calculation tool for comparing methods and costs, review importing, bundle products, and a Chrome extension that imports products from 1688, Taobao and AliExpress into your store. That last one is handy, but remember the product is still fulfilled by CJ, so price and stock come from CJ's quote rather than the original listing.
CJ Dropshipping shipping times
This is where honest reviews matter most, because "fast shipping" claims depend entirely on where the item ships from. Here's what CJ itself publishes:
| Route | CJ's stated time | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Local warehouse to customer (e.g. US stock to US buyer) | "General delivery time of 2-3 days" | CJ's Shopify app listing |
| CJPacket, China to US | Average of 5 to 15 days in CJ's tests | CJ blog, 2019 |
| Bulk stock transfer, China to US warehouse (air) | 10 to 15 days | CJ service fee page |
| Bulk stock transfer, China to US warehouse (sea) | 25 to 30 days | CJ service fee page |
| Bulk stock transfer, China to UK or Germany (air) | 13 to 18 days | CJ service fee page |
Two caveats. CJ's CJPacket figure is from 2019, and CJ doesn't publish a current single number; use the Shipping Calculation tool in your account for a live quote on each product. And those times exclude processing. CJ says stocked items can be processed fast, but items it must buy from a factory first take longer.
The practical rule: if fast delivery is your selling point, only advertise it on variants that are physically in a local CJ warehouse. Check the warehouse filter per variant, not per product.
How to test CJ Dropshipping before you scale
The most useful part of any CJ Dropshipping review is the test plan, because your results depend on the products and agent you end up with. Here's a low-risk way to check CJ with your own store:
- Pick two or three products you'd actually sell, including at least one with a US or EU warehouse option.
- Run the Shipping Calculation tool for your main customer country and write down the method, cost and quoted delivery time for each.
- Order samples to your own address using the same shipping method your customers would get. Time it from payment to doorstep, not from dispatch.
- Check the packaging and the product against CJ's photos. Note anything that would cause an "item not as described" complaint.
- Message your agent with a real question, such as a bulk price for 100 units, and see how quickly and clearly they answer.
- Do the margin math with real numbers before you spend on ads.
On that last step, a quick example using a real CJ listing price. CJ's homepage showed a retractable dog leash at $7.17 to $8.76 in October 2026. Say you pick the $7.17 variant and the Shipping Calculation tool quotes $5 to your US customer (an assumed figure; get your own quote). Your landed cost is $12.17. Sell at $29.99 on Shopify and you keep $17.82 before payment processing, Shopify apps and ads. If your cost per purchase on ads is $15, you're left with under $3. That's the number that tells you whether to scale, and it matters more than any rating.
CJ Dropshipping pros and cons
Pros
- No required subscription. You can test products without a monthly bill.
- Sourcing requests for products CJ doesn't list yet, 5 a day on the free plan.
- Real branding options: custom packaging, inserts, POD and photo/video shooting.
- Overseas warehouses and a 3PL service, so you can graduate from dropshipping to stocked fulfillment without switching companies.
- Broad integrations, including eBay, Etsy and TikTok Shop, not only Shopify.
- Published, itemised fee schedule.
Cons
- Orders that ship from China still take a week or more door to door.
- Stocking overseas needs at least 100 units, which is a real cash commitment.
- Storage, inbound, outbound, labelling and peak-season fees add up and are easy to overlook.
- CJ's free-storage headline and fee table don't match for the US warehouse.
- Service quality depends on your assigned agent.
- No refunds on paid memberships.
CJ Dropshipping vs AliExpress vs AliDrop
People comparing CJ usually have AliExpress or an AliExpress app in mind. Here's a fair side-by-side based on each company's own pages.
| CJ Dropshipping | AliExpress (direct) | AliDrop | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Supplier and fulfillment agent | Marketplace of many sellers | Dropshipping app for Shopify |
| Monthly cost | $0 (optional plans $15.99 to $59.99) | $0 | $1 for the first 7 days, then from $39 |
| Product sources | CJ catalogue plus sourcing requests | AliExpress sellers | AliExpress, Alibaba, Temu and vetted US/EU suppliers |
| Fast shipping option | Local warehouse stock (2 to 3 days per CJ) | Varies by seller | US/EU suppliers (2 to 5 days per AliDrop) |
| Branding | Custom packaging, POD, inserts | Depends on seller | Supplier-dependent |
| Best for | Sourcing help, branding, moving into stocked fulfillment | Cheapest product testing | Automating an AliExpress-based Shopify store |
These aren't mutually exclusive. Plenty of stores test with AliExpress products, then move proven winners to an agent like CJ for packaging and warehousing. If you want one place to import products, send orders to suppliers automatically and add faster US/EU shipping, that's the job AliDrop does. Our CJdropshipping vs AliDrop comparison goes feature by feature, and the CJ Dropshipping page covers how the two fit together.

If that fits how you want to work, you can try AliDrop for $1 for the first 7 days. The US/EU suppliers page explains the faster-shipping catalogue.
Who should use CJ Dropshipping (and who shouldn't)
CJ is a good fit if you:
- Have a product that sells and want branded packaging or a cheaper unit cost through sourcing.
- Are ready to put 100+ units into a US or EU warehouse for faster delivery.
- Sell on several channels (Shopify plus eBay or TikTok Shop) and want one fulfillment partner. On eBay, read our eBay Seller Hub guide first; eBay's seller standards punish out-of-stock cancellations.
Look elsewhere if you:
- Need guaranteed fast shipping on every product from day one without buying stock.
- Don't want to track storage periods and per-unit warehouse fees.
- Want a flat, predictable monthly cost with automation built around AliExpress.

CJ Dropshipping review: the final verdict
Our CJ Dropshipping review comes down to this. CJ earns its reputation as a legit, capable agent: free to start, open about its fees, and genuinely useful once you have a product worth branding or warehousing. The weak spots are predictable. China-shipped orders are slow, warehouse fees add up, and service depends on your agent. Order samples, confirm stock per variant, and read the fee table before you stock anything. If you'd rather run an AliExpress-based Shopify store with automated ordering and US/EU suppliers built in, start AliDrop for $1 for 7 days and check the plans when you're ready.
CJ Dropshipping FAQs
Is CJ Dropshipping legit?
Yes. CJ Dropshipping is operated by Yiwu Cu Jia Trade Co., Ltd., which CJ says was founded in 2015, and its Shopify app has been listed since January 2020. In October 2026 the app held a 4.9-star rating from 2,893 reviews. Low-rated reviews mainly mention slow China shipping and agent quality, so order samples before scaling.
Is CJ Dropshipping free?
CJ is free to join and the Shopify app is free to install, with no required monthly subscription. You pay for products and shipping, plus warehouse, labelling or branding fees if you use those services. Optional memberships (Plus, Prime and Advanced) cost $15.99 to $59.99 a month and add coupons, VIP products and extra sourcing requests. They aren't refundable.
How long does CJ Dropshipping take to ship?
It depends on where the item is stocked. CJ's Shopify listing says local warehouse delivery generally takes 2 to 3 days. Orders shipped from China take much longer; CJ's own testing put CJPacket to the US at 5 to 15 days on average, before processing time. Use the Shipping Calculation tool in your account for a current quote per product.
What fees does CJ Dropshipping charge?
Every order includes the product cost and a shipping fee. If stock sits in a CJ warehouse, stocking fees can apply after the free period, and European and 3PL orders add inbound and outbound fees. For example, the outbound fee for a parcel under 0.5 kg is $0.50 from the US warehouse. CJ's service fee page lists every rate.
Does CJ Dropshipping work with Shopify?
Yes. The CJdropshipping Shopify app lets you list CJ products to your store, connect existing products to CJ, sync orders automatically and push tracking numbers back to Shopify. CJ also integrates with eBay, WooCommerce, Etsy, TikTok Shop, Wix and others, and offers an API for custom sites.
Where are CJ Dropshipping's warehouses?
CJ's fee page names warehouses in China, the United States, Poland, Germany and the United Kingdom, and its 3PL page mentions 10+ warehouses across North America, Europe and more. To stock items overseas you need at least 10 pieces per variant and 100 pieces in total. Not every variant is stocked locally, so check per variant.
What are the main pros and cons of CJ Dropshipping?
The pros are no required subscription, free sourcing requests, custom packaging and print on demand, overseas warehouses and broad store integrations. The cons are slow delivery for China-shipped orders, a 100-unit minimum to stock overseas, warehouse fees that add up, inconsistent agent support and storage terms that differ between CJ's headline and its fee table.
Is CJ Dropshipping better than AliExpress?
They do different jobs. AliExpress is a marketplace of many sellers and is usually the cheapest way to test products. CJ acts as one agent that sources, inspects, brands and ships, with optional local warehousing. Many sellers test on AliExpress, then move proven products to an agent. Apps like AliDrop automate the AliExpress side for Shopify stores.
